Illinois Farm Bureau is highlighting efforts to support

pollinators during National Pollinator Week.

Lauren Lurkins, Director of Environmental Policy tell Brownfield

they compiled information and submitted it to the US Fish and Wildlife Service

for consideration when the agency decides whether or not to add the Monarch

Butterfly to the endangered species list.

“If it were listed as an endangered species, that would impact a ton of stuff including production agriculture.”

She says Illinois farmers across the state are playing their

part to help pollinators by putting their private property into pollinator

habitat.
