The head of Midwest Dairy says in-person activities for June
Dairy Month have turned virtual during the coronavirus pandemic.
Molly Pelzer tells Brownfield this month dairy
farmers are reading children’s stories and hosting farm tours virtually which
is allowing the checkoff to potentially reach even more consumers.
“People are more aware about where their food comes from and how it goes from farm to table, and that natural curiosity has led to the virtual farm tours being very, very popular.”
She says relationships with retailers and grocers have helped stock shelves and eliminate any purchasing limits on dairy products which were seen earlier in the spring.
