Dozens of farmers taking part in protests were arrested in
Amsterdam Wednesday.
Farmers in the Netherlands are continuing to protest
government efforts to limit protein in animal feed. The country’s
agriculture ministry claims reducing protein will lower nitrogen oxide
emissions from animals and help reduce global warming. Farmers say
reducing the protein in feed will not be good for animal welfare.
Foreign media reports say the protesters are also critical
of the government for targeting farmers while ignoring other sectors of the
economy as they push for stricter controls on greenhouse gases.
