Crops are developing faster than normal in South Dakota.
The latest USDA crop progress report says as of Sunday, 16
percent of corn is silking compared to the five-year average of 13 percent.
Forty-nine percent of soybeans are blooming, well ahead of
last year’s 24 percent and 39 percent normally.
Eighty-two percent of corn and 77 percent of soybeans are
rated in good to excellent condition.
Winter wheat harvest is underway at five percent
complete. Seventy-four percent of the
crop is rated good to excellent.
