There are reports that Senate Republicans will include a $20 billion dollar increase to the Commodity Credit Corporation in a new COVID-19 relief package as commodity and biofuels groups urge Congress for more help.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue told farm broadcasters in a video message this week that USDA is in the process of evaluating COVID-19 impacts on the ag economy “and looking back at the lessons learned, thus far, as we consider our second round of CFAP (Coronavirus Food Assistance Program).”

Perdue says he does not foresee another round of Market

Facilitation Program payments for farmers, “China’s increasing its agricultural

purchases and I don’t think a third round of MFP seems to be needed at this

point along with CFAP.”

Senate leader Mitch McConnell has indicated a GOP relief

bill will be rolled out this week.
