An agronomy manager says the wet spring followed by dry conditions in Missouri and Illinois have led to mid-season nutrient deficiencies.

Jason Haegele, with Winfield United tells Brownfield Ag

News, “Going back a couple of weeks the V10 to V14 window, in Missouri specifically,

nitrogen was the number one nutrient that was limiting in corn along with sulfur,

zinc and potassium.”

He says similar losses were seen in Illinois corn. As for

any micro-nutrient deficiencies, “If a grower is going to invest in a fungicide

application, with micronutrients having a low application rate, we have the

opportunity to get those into the tank with the fungicide for corn.
