James Lowell Coulter, 93, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Private Funeral Services will be live-streamed on Anderson Funeral Homes Facebook page at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2020., with Pastor Jim Bonser officiating. A Public Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2020, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery. James was born January 14, 1927, to Gaylord and Mary Elsie (Benson) Coulter in Marshalltown. He graduated from La Moille High School in 1944. James enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January of 1945 until he was honorably discharged July of 1946. He was united in marriage to Helen Olson on June 15, 1947 in Gilman, IA. James lived in Marshalltown area his entire life. James was employed at Fisher Controls for 39 years until he decided to retire in April of 1983. James and Helen would live eight months in Bonita Spring, Florida through out the year. He was a member of the Stavanger Friends Church, Fisher Controls 25 year club, American Legion Post 46, and the 40 & 8 Voiture 560.
James is survived by his wife of 73 years Helen; and one sister, Dorthy Johnson of Brainerd, MN; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Gregory Alan; three brothers, Leonard, Orville, Ray; and one sister, Irene Bunting.
