Most Illinois crops had adequate moisture and growing conditions last week.
As of Sunday, USDA reporters say 89% of the corn is silking, which is 5% ahead of average. Twenty-two percent is in the dough stage. The state’s corn is rated 60% good, 21% fair, but only 14% excellent.
Soybeans are behind schedule for blooming, with 67% blooming
now. That’s seven percent below
average. Thirty-six percent of the
soybeans are setting pods. Sixty-one
percent of the soybeans are in good condition, with 19% fair and 15% reported
as excellent.
