The National Association of Wheat Growers president says

hot, dry weather has cut his yield potential this year.

Dave Milligan farms in the Thumb of Michigan and tells Brownfield harvest went better than expected but production is down after several weeks well into the 90-degree range with no rain.

“Overall, talking to people around the state and what we saw here, it was good quality.  Test weight was maybe a little bit lighter than what we would like, but acceptable.”

He says the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing trade wars also complicate marketing potential.
