Scattered showers will dot the central and eastern U.S. during the next several days. The most organized rainfall will affect the Southeast, where 5-day totals could reach 1 to 2 inches, except for locally higher amounts across Florida’s peninsula. Meanwhile, spotty 1- to 2-inch totals may also occur across the Plains and upper Midwest. Farther west, little or no rain will fall into early next week from the Pacific Coast to the Rockies.
