Goldsboro Milling, the parent company of North Carolina-based Maxwell Foods, has announced it is permanently closing its hog production facilities. In a release, the company cited current and projected financial losses from the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the closure.
Maxwell Foods, the 10th largest hog producer in the US, will be shuttering operations in a phased approach based on growing cycles with all operations ending by mid-2021. The company says all current grower contracts will be honored.
