Michigan State University 2020 wheat trials continue to show yield advantages with high-management wheat even through significant heat stress.

MSU Extension wheat specialist Dennis Pennington tells Brownfield the trials help determine what varieties can pay for additional inputs with increased management as well as what conventional ones remain profitable.

“We had pretty good yield potential and we had fairly low disease pressure, we didn’t have any lodging, so even the conventional management really did quite well.”

He says the best high management varieties provided a 12-bushel per acre gain while some were steady with conventional methods.
