Governor Mike Parson highlighted the livestock shows taking place at the Missouri State Fair on opening day.
Parson says the shows are critical for the fellowship of youth in the state.
“Our kids need to be doing something, they need to be out here showing livestock, they need to be together as we move forward in this state,” Parson said.
Parson says efforts from ag leaders in the state, including Ag Director Chris Chinn and State Fair Director Mark Wolfe, were required to make the shows possible.
