Excessively hot weather will continue throughout the western half of the country until late in the week, when cooler air will arrive in Pacific Northwest. Meanwhile, relatively cool conditions will prevail in the eastern half of the U.S., except for lingering heat and humidity across Florida’s peninsula and portions of the Gulf Coast region. Late in the week, however, above-normal temperatures will return across portions of the Great Lakes and Northeastern States.
