There is still funding available for Michigan agricultural processors and farms implementing COVID-19 prevention practices.

Michigan Department of Agriculture director Gary McDowell wants to make sure farmers and processors are aware of the funds, saying the health and safety of Michigan’s food and ag workers will be even more important over the next few months as harvest picks up.

The Michigan Agricultural Safety Grant Program was allocated $15 million in federal CARES Act funding for businesses with 10 or more employees.  The Michigan Economic Development Corporation Small Farm Safety Grant Program set aside $1.25 million in grants to farms with fewer than 10 employees to fund COVID-19 mitigation costs.
