A farmer in west-central Minnesota says corn silage harvest started in earnest this week.
Kirby Hettver of De Graff grows corn, alfalfa, and provides custom chopping services.
“We did some test chopping last week and the moisture levels are right in the sweet spot right now, so we’ve got (harvesting equipment out here) and we’re making tracks.”
He tells Brownfield conditions this year are in stark contrast with the excessive wetness of both 2018 and 2019.
