Laura made landfall Wednesday night near the Texas-Louisiana border. Catastrophic damage may occur through Thursday morning in southwestern Louisiana and along the upper Gulf Coast of Texas as Laura moves inland due to a 10- to 15-foot storm surge, sustained winds as high as 130 mph, and torrential rainfall (5 to 10 inches or more). After moving inland, Laura will weaken but continue to produce gusty winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes.
