There’s a widely held belief that soybeans are made in August.

University of Minnesota Extension soybean agronomist Seth Naeve says it might be splitting hairs, but he considers late August into early September the most critical time.

“Physiologically, I think the beans are really made into September, especially with our longer maturity varieties that some people are pushing out there (so) we’ve got a longer season. So I would definitely push that (key time) into early September.”

In Minnesota, he tells Brownfield soybeans look really good.
