Tropical moisture (from the eastern Pacific) being entrained by a cold front currently crossing the Plains and Midwest will lead to the development and persistence of heavy rain from north-central Texas into the lower Ohio Valley.
Five-day rainfall totals could reach 5 inches or more from the Red River Valley (Texas-Oklahoma border) to the Ozark Plateau.
Meanwhile, cooler, drier air will gradually overspread the Midwest, while hot, humid conditions will persist across the South.
