The USDA says national condition ratings for corn and soybeans declined slightly over the past week as both crops continue to face the lingering effects of a hot, dry month of August in some key U.S. growing areas.
As of Sunday, 61% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent shape, 1% less than last week, with 97% of the crop at the dough making stage, compared to the five-year average of 94%, 79% dented, compared to 71% on average, and 25% of the crop have reached maturity, compared to 19% on average.
