The dairy checkoff program in Wisconsin is putting farmers in front of consumers, even though COVID-19 has forced them to do it differently. Brenda Murphy with Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin says between now and National Farmer’s Day October 12th, they will do more of what worked during June Dairy Month. “In June, we had 27 farmers conduct, ah, I believe it was 125 or so TV and radio segments, and those 125 TV and radio segments reached 195 million people.”
Murphy says research keeps showing consumers want to know their farmers and where their food is coming from and putting farmers on radio and television is an opportunity.
