African swine fever has been confirmed in Germany for the first time.
The German Ag Ministry says a wild boar cadaver found in the eastern state of Brandenberg tested positive for the virus.
A 15-kilometer quarantine zone has been issued around the area where the case was discovered, and the movement of farm animals will be restricted.
Corn harvest in that area will also be banned because ag officials say wild boar often hide in corn fields.
