The U.S. Cattlemen’s Association is asking the USDA to step up its testing of beef imports from Mexico.
Leo McConnell, a USCA director, tells Brownfield there were reports in late August of more than 50 people in Mexico becoming sick from eating beef that contained Clenbuterol, a beta-agonist,
“We asked them to look at their evaluations again. Maybe step up their testing, more comprehensive testing. This has been a chronic problem in Mexico.”
Mexico is the third largest beef importer into the U.S.
