The executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says President Trump’s denial of so-called “gap year” exemptions to refiners is “outstanding news” for biofuels producers and farmers.
Monte Shaw says by denying the exemptions, 2019 is the first compliance year that RFS was enforced at a statutory level.
The EPA’s denial of the exemption requests comes after Iowa Senator Joni Ernst pressed the issue during the president’s trip to Iowa in August.
