A collapse in steering currents in the vicinity of Beta’s remnant circulation should lead to a continuation of heavy rain, as well as urban and flash flooding. Additional rainfall along and near the middle and upper Texas coast could reach 6 to 12 inches, with isolated totals approaching 20 inches. Heavy rain (locally 3 to 5 inches) may occur in Louisiana and eventually spread eastward toward the southern Appalachians. Producers will continue to monitor crops, such as open-boll cotton and unharvested rice, in areas where heavy rain is falling or expected to occur.
