Illinois farmers entered the first week of October with one-quarter of both corn and soybean harvest complete.
The USDA reports as of Sunday 26% of corn is harvested, doubling progress from the previous week, but still behind the five-year average of 39%. 89% of the crop is considered mature with 73% rated good to excellent.
Soybean harvest reached 25%, up from 11% the previous but also behind the average of 33%.
