Illinois-based Wyffels Hybrids rounded out a successful first year of their Serving Those Who Served program.
Jill Loehr tells Brownfield they launched the program at the 2019 Farm Progress show as a way to give back. For each bag of W5086RIB seed that was purchased, $2 were donated to Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans.
“We are proud to report that we’re donating around $67,000 to Homes For Our Troops in our first year.”
Focusing on the central corn belt, the funds supported home builds for Marine Lance Corporal “Bobby” McCardle in Franklin, Wisconsin; Marine Staff Sergeant Dominic Fernandez in Lakeville, Minnesota and Army Sergeant Nathan Shumaker in Missouri, which was the 300th build for the organization.
