USDA Undersecretary Ted McKinney says he is much less optimistic about the European Union and the direction of the EU’s Farm to Fork Strategy.
“It calls for a 50 percent ban on all pesticides and it also calls for one-third reduction of fertilizers among other things,” he says.
He says the US is working to demonstrate that similar goals can be reached through innovation. The USDA’s Ag Innovation Agenda is a department-wide effort to increase US ag production and reduce its environmental footprint.
