The USDA will allow free meals to continue to be available to children through the 2020-2021 school year.
Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the USDA wants to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches as the nation recovers from COVID-19.
The program extension will allow schools and other local program operators to continue to leverage the Summer Food Service Program and the Seamless Summer Option to provide free meals to children, available at more than 90,000 sites across the country.
