Direct cash cattle trade is off to a slow start following Wednesday’s light to moderate trade in most areas. Southern live business was at $108, that’s $.50 to $1 lower than last week’s weighted averages. Northern dressed deals were at mostly $169, roughly $1 lower than last week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are firm at $111 to $112 live in the South and $172 plus, dressed in the North.
