The head of global market development with Indigo Ag says carbon should be considered a new cash crop for farmers. Ben Allen says growers who generate carbon credits can address climate change and improve their bottom line.

“Carbon credits are financial instruments that are created when you can measure and scientifically verify that you have either abated or sequestered one ton of greenhouse gas,” he says. “Agriculture actually has the opportunity to be part of the solution.”

Allen says growers can measure and verify carbon sequestration through regenerative agricultural practices like cover crops, no-till, diversified crop rotations, and reduced inputs.
