A winter-like storm crossing southern sections of the Plains will drift eastward, generating snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain through mid-week across a broad area. Although wintry weather across the southern Plains will cause some travel disruptions and increase livestock stress, moisture will be highly beneficial for drought-stressed rangeland, pastures, and winter wheat. Meanwhile, Zeta should be a hurricane or strong tropical storm upon arrival late Wednesday along the Gulf Coast—most likely in southeastern Louisiana.
