Sunflower growers are enjoying a strong end to the year.

National Sunflower Association executive director John Sandbakken says harvest is ahead of schedule and the market looks good.

“We really haven’t seen any harvest pressure this year, which is not normal. Normally there are a lot of deliveries to the plants, things like that. And usually we see prices dip a little bit, but it’s strengthening here the last two to three weeks even though harvest is going full blast and people are delivering to the plants.”

He tells Brownfield while this year’s crop will be the largest in at least five years, 2019 sunflower production was much smaller than anticipated.
