The U.S. corn and soybean harvests stayed ahead of average last week, but progress in some areas was checked by cold, wet, and even snowy conditions in parts of the Midwest and Plains.

The USDA says 82% of corn is harvested as of Sunday, compared to 72% last week and the five-year average of 69%, and 87% of beans are harvested, compared to 83% a week ago and 83% on average.

89% of winter wheat is planted, compared to the usual rate of 86%, with 71% of the crop emerged, compared to 70% on average, and 43% rated good to excellent, up 2% on the week, but 14% below this time last year.
