Cool and windy weather slowed down some of the fall fieldwork in Wisconsin last week. As of Sunday, USDA reporters say dry, windy, sunny days cleared up most of the snow cover and excess soil moisture delivered by last week’s storm allowing fieldwork to resume midweek. Many dairy producers report being ahead of schedule with manure applications.
Wisconsin’s corn harvest is halfway finished, and soybeans are about wrapped up. USDA reporters say 55% of corn for grain is in the bin. That’s six days ahead of average and 22 days ahead of last year. State statistician Greg Bussler says as of Monday, most of Wisconsin’s corn for grain is coming in at around 20% moisture content.
