House Ag Committee chair Collin Peterson, a strong voice for agriculture in Congress, has lost his re-election bid.
Peterson, a Democrat, was defeated by Republican Michelle Fischbach by a margin of 54 to 40 percent.
Another race being closely watched by the ag industry saw Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst defeat Democrat Theresa Greenfield. The latest count has Ernst with a lead of more than seven points.
