The European Union is moving forward with a plan to slap $4-Billion-dollars in tariffs on U.S. goods, including some farm and food products.

US Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer says they’re disappointed in the EU action and it shows they only follow WTO rules “when convenient to them.”

The EU claims a certain Washington State tax provision years ago benefited Boeing. But, Lighthizer says the alleged subsidy to Boeing was repealed seven months ago and because of that, a WTO member cannot unilaterally impose retaliatory tariffs on a trading partner.
