Charles “Chuck” Pennington, 84 of Marshalltown, IA passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Embers in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. The family requests mask be worn for both the visitation and funeral services. The funeral service will be live-streamed at Anderson Funeral Homes Facebook page. Chuck was born November 18, 1935 to Ray and Vernie (Sears) Pennington in Derby, IA. He attended school in the Marshalltown area. At age 16 he started working at Lennox until he entered the United States Air Force, where he spent 20 years serving his country, retiring in 1974. Chuck was united in marriage to Gertrude “Dottie” Brown on April 18, 1956 in Tucson, AZ. After his retirement from the military he worked for ACI, Anderson Electric, which became Ethington Heating and Cooling in Marshalltown. Chuck enjoyed woodworking and made several items such as rocking horses, desks, cradles, and toys which have been passed down through generations. He loved fishing and often held fish fry’s to feed his entire family. Chuck was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved watching football. He and his wife loved to winter in Texas.

 

Chuck will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Dottie, three children; Linda ( David) Schroeder of San Antonio, TX, Brad ( Kathy) Pennington of Marshalltown, Audrey (Skip) McConnell of Eldora, IA, eleven grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and one sister, Glennis Steward of Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Stotts, a grandson, Daniel Schroeder, a great granddaughter, Chyanne Wind, two brothers; David Pennington and Danny Pennington, and a sister, Audrey Dooley.
