Dr. Seth Meyer will return to USDA to be the new Chief Economist. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue made the announcement on Monday. Meyer will replace Robert Johansson who is leaving the department to become the Associate Director of Economics and Policy Analysis for the American Sugar Alliance at the end of January.
Meyer says this is a challenging time for the food and ag sector and he’s honored to have been asked to rejoin USDA. He says he’s looking forward to serving the American public and USDA’s many stakeholders.
