Direct cash cattle trade activity has been quiet and packer inquiry has been limited.  Asking prices have surfaced around $110 plus live in the South and the North has been quiet.  Bids remain elusive.  It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until the latter half of the week.

Boxed beef prices have been delayed due to technical issues at the USDA.

At the close, at the Oklahoma National Stockyards, compared to last week feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher.  Steer and heifer calves were $3 to $5 lower than last week’s sharply higher market.  Long-weaned calves with multiple rounds of shots were to $1 lower.  The USDA says demand was moderate.  Feeder supply included 56 percent steers and 54 percent of the offering was over 600 pounds.  Receipts were down on the week, but up on the year.  Medium and Large 1 feeder steers 503 to 548 brought $155 to $170 and feeder steers 654 to 694 pounds brought $136 to $147.50.  Medium and Large 1 feeder heifers 551 to 598 pounds brought $126 to $134.50 and feeder heifers 651 to 696 pounds brought $127 to $134.

Cash hogs are lower at midday with moderate negotiated numbers.
