Iowa Farm Bureau wants state legislators to change how mental health resources are funded.

President Craig Hill, who farms in Warren County, tells Brownfield the burden of mental health services has fallen on property taxpayers.

“And today it’s time for the state to assume those costs, so we’d like to see a more equitable funding source for mental health services.”

He says rural Iowans are footing more of the bill and argues property taxes are not for people services, they are for roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure.
