A new apple variety from the Great Lakes is increasing in availability this year.
Michigan Apple Committee executive director Diane Smith tells Brownfield growers have been adding EverCrisp trees to orchards for about five years and the 2020 harvest was finally large enough for more widespread distribution.
“It’s still not the volume that you’re going to be able to find a Honeycrisp or a Fuji so you definitely need to be on the lookout for these,” she says.
