More farmers are interested in getting paid to sequester carbon on their farms, according to the latest Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer.

Jim Mintert is the director of the Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture.

“Three out of ten farmers surveyed said they were aware of opportunities to get paid for capturing carbon,” he says.

Of the farmers who are aware of carbon capture opportunities…”twenty-two percent said they’ve actually been involved in some discussions about receiving a carbon capture payment,” he says.
