2020 was a record year for pork exports and the head of the US Meat Export Federation says China wasn’t the only country behind the rise in demand.
Dan Halstrom says other countries ramped up their imports of US pork and that is good news for the industry. “We see a significant rebound going on with Mexico and Japan came in with significant growth in December as well 13 percent above year-ago levels,” he says. “There was also significant rebound in Vietnam and the Philippines, a record for Central America, and I think South America will come as well.”
He says beef exports were down on the year, but ended 2020 with strong momentum.
