The U.S. dairy industry exported more than two million metric tons of products in 2020, the largest volume on record for milk solids equivalent.
The U.S. Dairy Export Council says export values were also the highest in six years at $6.6 billion.
Exports of dry whey products and nonfat dry milk had the largest year over year increase compared to 2019 volumes which is attributed to increased demand from China as part of the Phase 1 agreement and tariff exemptions for whey permeate as that country recovers from African Swine Fever.
