Bitterly cold conditions will persist for the remainder of the week across the north-central U.S., where sub-zero temperatures will occur each night. Temperatures should fall to near 0° as far south as Kansas and Missouri. Farther south, however, freezes will not reach key winter agricultural regions in Florida and Texas.
Snow has recently fallen across parts of the northern and central Plains, but there are some gaps in coverage in some winter wheat production areas—particularly in eastern Colorado, western Kansas, northeastern Montana, and the western Dakotas.
