A February cold wave will continue to expand its influence by overspreading the Northwest and edging deeper into the South. However, freezes are not expected to reach winter agricultural areas in California, Florida, Texas, and the Desert Southwest for the remainder of the week. Nevertheless, sub-zero temperatures will persist for at least several more days across large sections of the Plains and Midwest, maintaining stress on livestock and threatening the health of winter wheat that is not insulated by snow.
