The outgoing president of the Minnesota Pork Board points to the shrinking COVID infection rate among packing plant workers as a major positive for the industry.
JoDee Haala, director of public affairs for Christensen Farms, tells Brownfield data from the Department of Health is very encouraging.
“If you look at the meat processing plants compared to any other industry, the numbers are extremely low, like other industries are five times higher than the meatpacking industry.”
There were no outbreaks at packing plants in December, which she says is indicative of lessons learned during the pandemic.
