A Missouri cotton ginner says he’s cautiously optimistic about the 2021 crop year.
David Blakemore is the president of Blakemore Cotton & Grain in Campbell, Missouri. “We’re going to be decreasing the amount of cotton that we raise, a lot of that is because corn prices are good and soybeans are good,” he says. “It’s going to make us a little more competitive to get cotton into the gin.”
And, he tells Brownfield, with cotton prices on the rise. “It’s going to allow us to plant enough that we’re looking forward to the opportunities we’ll have this year,” he says.
