The Hemp Feed Coalition says it has applied for hemp to become an approved animal feed ingredient. The coalition says it’s the first application submitted in the U.S. for hemp to be federally approved as a feed ingredient for poultry.
The coalition says once approved, hempseed meal and cake would be legal as a commercial feed for laying hens.
The application goes to the Association of American Feed Control Officials and the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (FDA-CVM) for scientific review.
